What is Edge to Edge Longarm Quilting?

Edge to edge quilting is an all-over design quilted using a computerized system. Because the quilting is being led by a computer, the design possibilities are endless!

The Designs tab of this website has some examples of designs we offer and a full list to browse.

How much will this cost?

At HBQS we charge $0.025 per square inch for E2E quilting. This price includes all the quilting and thread used.

To estimate the cost of quilting, multiply the length of your quilt by the width (in inches), then multiply by $0.025.

For example, a quilt that measures 50”x70” would cost:

50 x 70 = 3500 sq inches x $0.025 = $87.50 (plus hst)

There is a $50 minimum load, which means this amount will be charged instead of the square inch cost for your quilt if it is less than $50.

Every month we pick one sale pantograph that is only $0.02 per square inch to save you a bit of cash! Click here for this month’s sale

Please note the $50 minimum still applies for the sale panto.

Quilting

We offer two types of batting:

1. Hobbs 80/20 Cotton Poly - $17.00/meter

Regular 80/20 is 96” wide. For oversized quilts, we have 80/20 at 120” wide for $19/meter

2. Hobbs 80/20 Cotton Poly Bleached White - $19.50/meter

Bleached white 80/20 is 108” wide. For oversized quilts, we can order in a prepackaged king-sized white batting

Whenever possible, batting is cut to the shortest dimension of your quilt. Any excess from the width of the batting (96” or 108”) will be returned with the quilt.

Hobbs batting for that same quilt measuring 50”x70” would cost:

50” = 1.25m x $17 = $21.25 (plus hst)

We recommend white batting for any quilts with a white background as it does a better job of hiding the shadows of your seams.

You are also welcome to send your own batting! We just ask that you ensure it's at least 2 inches larger than your quilt top on each side.

Batting

Binding is completely optional, many quilters love to bind their own quilts! If that isn’t you, we offer binding services. Click here for more info on binding.

Binding Options:

1. Attach binding to the top of your quilt ($0.10/linear inch)

2. Attach and finish it by hand ($0.30/linear inch)

To estimate the cost of binding, add up the length + width of your quilt (in inches) and multiply by 2. Then multiply by the cost of your chosen service.

Attaching the binding onto a quilt measuring 50”x70” would cost:

50 + 70 = 120 x 2 = 240 x $0.10 = $24 (plus hst)

If you opt for one of our binding services, please send either finished binding strips or enough yardage of your chosen fabric. There is a $10 charge to make up binding from yardage.

There are a few services we offer to make life a little easier! These are completely optional and can be selected in your quilt form.

Make your backing from yardage: If making up a backing is just one step too far, we totally get it. We charge $10 per seam to sew your backing from yardage, and $25 if you would like a pattern match. Most backings just require one big seam. Feel free to ask if you’re not sure how much backing to purchase.

Trimming: We charge $10 to trim your quilt once it’s finished so it goes home ready to be bound! This means we use a ruler to square up the quilt and cut off all the excess backing and batting. If there are small (usually 1/4” or less) pieces of your quilt top that need to be squared, those will be cut as well. If there are any large sections of your top that need to be cut we will consult with you first, but please only opt for trimming if you are okay with us using our best quilter judgment to make your quilt square.

Note: Trimming is included with binding services.
